How to use SpacePlanner

SpacePlanner opens straight into the editor - no signup, no install. You only need an account when you want to save, export or share.

   Open the editor

   Click Start Drawing anywhere on the site. The canvas loads instantly and you can begin drawing right away.

   Pick your units

   Use the Settings menu in the top bar to switch between centimeters, meters and feet. Every dimension updates live.

   Save your work

   Create a free account to save projects to your dashboard. Guest plans are kept in your browser and migrate to your account when you sign up.

Walls are the backbone of every plan. Draw them freehand or drop a whole room shape in one move.

   The Wall tool

   Select the Wall tool and click to place points. Walls chain automatically - each click starts the next segment. Double-click or press Esc to finish.

   Precise angles & lengths

   Walls soft-snap to common angles (0°, 45°, 90°…). Hold Shift to lock to 45° steps. A live length and angle badge shows exactly what you are drawing.

   Room shapes

   Use the Shape tools to drag a rectangle or L-shaped room, or click vertices for a custom polygon room. Walls share corners so rooms stay closed.

   Editing walls

   With the Select tool, drag an endpoint to extend or re-angle a wall, or use the rotation handle to spin it. Clearance dimensions to nearby walls appear as you move.

Place openings directly onto walls and adjust how they swing, slide or sit.

   Add an opening

   Pick the Door, Window or Pass-through tool and hover a wall - a ghost preview snaps onto it. Click to place.

   Adjust type & swing

   Select an opening to change its width, height, door kind (hinged, sliding, folding, pocket, double) and swing direction in the properties panel.

   Move & merge

   Drag an opening along its wall or onto another wall. Openings that touch snap flush so no sliver of wall is left between them.

A full library of to-scale furniture, fixtures and outdoor symbols, all drawn in clean CAD style.

   Browse the library

   Open the symbol library and search or filter by category - living, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, office, outdoor and more.

   Place & position

   Click a symbol, then click on the canvas to drop it. Smart alignment guides help you line pieces up with walls and each other.

   Resize from one side

   Drag an edge handle to grow a piece from that side only - the opposite edge stays anchored. Drag a corner to resize both dimensions.

   Rotate & lock

   Use the rotation handle to spin a symbol; hold Shift for 15° steps. Lock a piece to prevent accidental moves.

Create professional electrical layouts with standard symbols and home-run wiring.

   Place electrical symbols

   From the Electrical category, drop switches, outlets, lights and panels. Wall-mounted devices snap flush against the nearest wall automatically.

   Draw wiring

   Select the Wire tool, click one device then another to connect them with a standard curved home-run. Chain connections by continuing to click devices.

   Legibility at any zoom

   Electrical symbols render at a fixed architectural size so they stay readable whether you are zoomed in on a room or viewing the whole plan.

   Export with a legend

   Turn on the electrical legend in the export dialog to print a labeled key of every electrical symbol used in the plan.

Your 2D plan is always a 3D model too - switch views any time.

   Switch to 3D

   Use the 2D / 3D toggle in the top bar. Walls, doors and windows build into a real model with correct heights and materials.

   Walk through it

   Enter walkthrough mode to move through the space in first person and get a true sense of scale and flow.

   Materials & heights

   Adjust wall height, thickness and material per wall. Multi-level and split-level plans stack correctly in 3D.

Already have a floor plan? Let the AI rebuild it as an editable, to-scale plan.

   Upload a plan

   Click Import Photo and upload an image, sketch or PDF of a floor plan. This feature requires a free account.

2. 2

   AI reconstruction

   The AI reads dimensions and layout, then reconstructs closed rooms, walls, doors, windows and furniture to scale.

   Refine in the editor

   The result drops straight into the canvas where every element is fully editable - adjust anything that needs tweaking.

Everything is drawn to real-world scale with live measurement feedback.

   Live dimensions

   Wall lengths and opening widths display automatically. Toggle dimensions on or off from Settings or the layers panel.

   Measure tool

   Use the Measure tool to check any distance. It snaps to wall endpoints and faces for precise readings.

   Area tool

   Trace any region - inside or outside walls - to get its area. Enclosed rooms also show their area automatically.

   Draw a lot

   Use the Lot tool to draw a property boundary, then choose its ground surface - grass, paving, gravel or water.

   Outdoor symbols

   Add trees, plants, rocks, pools, outdoor kitchens and furniture from the outdoor category, all to scale.

   Indoor + outdoor together

   Design your house and garden on the same canvas and connect levels with stairs.

   Choose a format

   Export as PNG (image), PDF (print-ready A4), SVG (true vector) or JSON (raw data). A live preview shows the result before you download.

   Toggle layers

   Turn individual layers on or off for the export - dimensions, furniture, doors and windows, room names, grid and electrical.

   Sharing

   Signed-in users can save plans to the dashboard and reopen them any time, on any device.

   Projects & floors

   A project can hold multiple floors. Add, rename, reorder or duplicate floors to plan a whole building.

   Autosave

   Signed-in projects autosave as you work. Rename a project inline from the editor top bar.

   Favorites

   Pin your most-used projects so they sort to the top of your dashboard.

A few habits that make planning faster.

   Pan & zoom

   Hold Space (or the middle mouse button) to pan; scroll or pinch to zoom. Two-finger trackpad scroll pans in any direction.

2. 2

   Precise moves

   Hold Alt while dragging for fine 1 cm movement instead of grid steps.

3. 3

   Multi-select

   Drag a marquee over several elements, or ⌘/Ctrl-click to add and remove items, then move or align them together.

4. 4

   Escape & delete

   Press Esc to cancel any in-progress tool, and Delete/Backspace to remove the selected element or wire.
